The Vigo hinterland’s exporters and importers will enjoy greater cargo transporting capacity in their supply chains with the arrival of TAV – TERMINALES ATLÁNTICAS VIGO, the new stevedoring company proving port services and handling goods to the Port of Vigo.

TAV specialises in stowage and unloading, and provides the integral management of cargo operations and logistics in port. It offers general cargo terminal, project, RO-RO and bulk cargo service, and auxiliary storage and lashing services, and technical assistance.

The new company will meet an important requirement of companies, which is a truly integrated range of logistic services and access to maritime logistics and cargo movement solutions. A comprehensive array of services to meet the logistic needs of companies from Galicia, Castilla y Leon, and northern Portugal.

The company’s first operation carried out at the end of August and early September consisted of loading a CITIC CENSA project for the mining industry in Australia. The stowage operation by TAV consisted of loading five large furnace sections and their tooling, weighing between 130 and 145 tons, and 25 metres long and 6.5 metres wide in size.

The CITIC CENSA equipment was loaded on the BBC Paraná vessel to be transported to Port Headland (Western Australia).

“We are delighted to be increasing the logistic capacity of the Port of Vigo, at a time when the customers are seeking new ways to meet consumers’ demand. TAV aims to provide customers with an integrated range of logistic services and provide greater flexibility in decision making,” explained Israel Cea, TAV Terminal Director.
